I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and respect to Ven. Godakawela Shanthasiri Thera, Chief Monk of of the Shri Samayawardane Viharaya in Jinthupitiya for inviting me and many others for Iftar at his temple and for his sincere gesture in symbolizing the friendship between the Muslim and Buddhist communities which has lasted for over a millennium in Sri Lanka. This is especially noteworthy as it was done at a time when our relationship was fractured by militant Islamist extremist terrorists.
I also wish to thank Thushara Hemantha Manju Manthrithuma and my boss Faiszer Musthapha for assisting in this gesture of good will and companionship.
